The Briefing Room - 15th June

Jay entered the base, stepping down into the reception, a steaming venti in one hand and a laptop case in the other.
He walked through into the meeting area, and set the laptop case down on the metallic surface of the large round table. He looked around at the other Militia member's already present and smiled.
"So," he started, settling into his seat and sipping from his coffee, "who else we waitin' on?"

Coile had spotted Jay walking towards a room but chose to withhold the greetings. Instead he waited for a moment, drawing a deep breath. Walking in there might start some trouble. After all he had attacked Keening Banshee with lethal force while she was still a member of the Militia. Still, just by waiting it was not possible to make this any easier. Slowly he stepped into the doorway and came to a stop. Crossing arms over his chest he leaned against the frame and spoke with a level but quiet voice. "No need to wait me at any rate. I'm here as promised."
Looking at the gathering folks he wondered if he should have worn his powersuit instead of Nightsparrow's vigilante jacket that Love Angel had retrofitted for him. Flashing a smile would have eased none of the tension so he did not even bother to try one.

Jennifer looked up from her coffee, and smiled. "Hey there, Mr. Coile." She hesitated, sensing that there was more going on here than she knew about.

Coile let out an internal sigh. If it was time to pay the piper then it was. If not, best try to make the situation as bearable as it was possible considering the circumstances.
"You can call me Andre if you like. Or Coile, without the mister." He tried for a relaxed grin. "But not Mister Kraft because that's my old man." Then he realized that the smart sounding line was not in fact working for him. "Or was. He's dead now."

Jay nodded at Coile, acknowledging his presence in the meeting room.
"Thanks fer comin' Andre, ah appreciate it." He looks back to the rest of the faces round the table. "We got a lot to talk about fer Amber's disappearance. That's why Coile's here, so no smart remarks, 'cos things in the past seem ta be tied up wit' this whole business if ah'm reading things a'right."
He took a sip from his coffee as he waited for any comments about Coile's presence to be made and burn themselves out.

Still not detaching himself from the doorframe and entering the room properly Coile awaited for an invite and looked briefly at the assembly of current Militia operatives. He was not at the best of standings with this group as it was.
First encounter with the Militia had been through Dragonfly, the obnoxious Chinese girl with whom he had fallen out thoroughly. Put in simple terms he considered the girl to be an enemy ever since she had magicked a powerful sword out of Tempest base.
Next he had met Lady Cobra and Nightsparrow. Cobra was no longer a member. Nightsparrow was no longer alive. Only through weeks long practice Coile managed to still the sudden flood of tears. The familiar ache born of sorrow and grief that never left him intensified the pressure inside the heart and felt like ripping its way out. The Militia had failed both Sparrow and Cobra in all possible ways.
Tyger and Juniper were a packet deal and one that he could have lived without, but you don't get to choose the people who decide to regard you as a friend. The situation was mostly tolerable even if Tyger's relentless hounding of Diana had long since passed the point which Coile called stalking.
Rachel had somehow slipped from his recent contacts, sans a telephone call or two.
Then there was Amber, one of the very few people left inside Militia that Coile himself considered a friend after a fashion and her absence was the point of him being here. An uneasy knot is his stomach grew tighter. He kept seeing Melanie dying, over and over, and could not shake the dread that Amber was in a bad way, or dead already.
Aria no longer served in these ranks. Coile shuddered as a living memory of Aria pressing closer surprised him. She had said that she could end his life, or kiss him, and asked which terrified him more. To his amazement he had had to consider his answer for a moment.
Then there was Jay. Not a friend, hardly an ally and an acquiantance at most. Still, he was his probable future landlord. Assuming that Coile had the spine to move away from Diana for the time being.
The rest, personally they were more or less inconsequential to him. That was his way of relating himself to things in the world - what was his personal relationship to them. No wonder that Silent Tempest as a group did not have any strong ties to any single group out there.
He rubbed his temples. The sleep had been scarce that night. Who else was there? Nicky? The eskimo girl. The Allah girl. Names escaped him. As if it mattered. He wanted this over and done with, the sooner the better.

Mer'de shot a stern look to Archer upon seeing Coile. There had better be a good reason why Coile of all people had been invited for this debrief. As far as he was concerned, this human brought bad news wherever he went. A small sense of dread filled his heart.
"I believe we have a few more members of the Militia expected to attend this debrief this morning" said Mer'de, now blatantly ignoring Coile's presence. "But we're scheduled to start in ten minutes time, so I suggest we wait"
Sat next to him was Micheal Civil who had interviewed the two new probational members of the Militia two days ago.
To his right, sat Barbwire, eagerly peering over at the laptop. She couldn't wait to learn what Amber had been doing on it, hoping to unearth a treasure of clues into her disappearance.

Marjaneh Keser, the once Masked Angel, walked in.
Silently and pale-faced, she made her way to the conference table and sat down.

Dante stepped from the faculty's arcane library, his lined face furrowed in concentration. He was still holding a book open in his hands, studying its contents. Remembering where he was and why he was here, he snapped the book shut and took his place around the table.
"Good morning," he said in his deep voice. If it was possible, he appeared more sombre than ever, possibly because of the subject they were due to discuss. He noted the new face at the opposite end of the table and nodded an acknowledgement. It was about the closest anyone got to a greeting from him these days.

Jay nodded towards Mer'de, an acknowledgement of the man's disapproval, though his face remained passive, offering no apology.
Getting up from his seat, Jay began to walk round the table.
"Ah'm sorry fer hijackin' things a little Mer'de, but lot of information regarding Saffron's situation has come out in the past week an' it's gonna take some time to go over it all. Can ah suggest that Delta an' Charlie teams offer their reports first, along with any other business, 'cos we might as well do all the Amber stuff to give some background to our team's findin's, an' any extra information." He glanced over towards Coile at this remark.
As he walked behind Marjaneh Keser chair, Jay gave her shoulder a supportive squeeze, saying quietly, "Ah'm glad yer came, Mrs Keser."

The Lost Anathema, "Found", sat in his seat next to Wavekite quietly transfixed on a Brail Rubix Cube floating in the palm of his large mutated hand. Every few seconds the sound of a gentle swoosh came from the toy as a section rotated to Found's telekinetic will. Then, after a series of movements, he would lower the toy into his palm, gently feel the Brail markings and then continue the puzzle.
So far it seemed he Found himself hopelessly Lost in finding a solution to the toy, releasing an agigtated grunt at the Cube as the voices around him began to speak upon Coile's arrival.

Mer'de acknowledged what the Crimson Archer had whispered to his ear and turned to Wavekite.
"Let us start with your report on yesterday's patrol, Delta Squad" he asked formally.

"Sorry I'm late." Juniper commented as the lift doors opens. She stepped out, closely followed by Fluffy the Singularity. "I was updating some systems. Lost track of time."
The singularity flushed a darker colour as Juni noted Andre. "Stop that, Fluffy!" She warned, before taking a seat. "He's a friend! Really, he is!"

Not wanting to draw any more attention to himself than he was already getting Coile kept quiet when Jay indicated that the hairless leader of Silent Tempest might have information to share. He did but was not certain how useful it would in the end be.
He remained equally detached when Juni entered. A slight nod was what she got. Right now, in this room, it was plenty.

Dawn walked in casually and took a seat, looking worn out. "Hey guys, I miss anything?" she asks while taking note of Coile
